Sweet Cousins

Nana's softball team was in a tournament this weekend in Metairie so she, mom, & Kayleigh came to stay the weekend with us. Hadley was so excited to see her cousin. They played so hard on Saturday and Sunday and there were LOTS of tears when the time came for them to go home. The kids were sad too! Look at these precious faces. We went out to the ball park around 8:30 Saturday morning to watch the Lady Hurricanes dominate the field. They ended up going through the tournament undefeated! How awesome!!

One Smart Cookie

This girl is something else. Every day she amazes me with what she has learned. Today while we were stopped at a red light she looked up at the Brother's sign and said, "chicks." I was wondering what in the world she was talking about until I looked up and saw a chicken at the top of the sign. After that she looked at her juice box and said, "apple." Sure enough she was drinking apple juice. She is just SO smart. At 19 months, Hadley can already count to 3 by herself and 10 with help. It's so funny to hear her say, "on, twooo, fee" usually followed by jump or otay. She has over 130 words and several 2-3 word phrases. How am I ever going to keep up with her as she gets older?

A few weeks ago we went to City Park to have Hadley's 18 month pictures made. We decided to take Hadley for her first visit to Story Land. It's a great area that has different fairytale houses. She loved it! I know it doesn't really look like it here, but she had a blast! We all did! Even if it was 100 million degrees with 200% humidity.

Her favorite was the huge dragon slide. She and Darrell must have gone down it ten times. We let her go down once by herself, but I was paranoid she was going to fly off so I didn't get a picture. It scared her a little so she the rest of the time she only went down with her daddy.

They had this awesome old firetruck that the kids could climb into and drive. We had to beg her to get out when we were ready to move on.
Isn't this the most precious picture? This one will be great for her wedding! You know when she's 30 and a successful doctor or lawyer. ;-)Unfortunately, she'll probably kiss a lot of these before she finds her prince. Until then, she always has her daddy!

Rocco's 2nd Birthday

Hadley & I were able to fly to Jacksonville a couple of weeks ago for cousin Rocco's birthday party. The flight was very uneventful (just the way we like it). When we got there Aunt Heather picked us up &we went straight to their house for some relaxation. I decided to do a mini photo shoot with Hadley & Rocco. They were so cute standing on the ledge of the fireplace. Then I realized Rocco's parents probably don't let him stand up there so we got down quickly, but not before I got this cute pic. They look so mischievous.

Aunt Robin watched the kiddos while Heather & I went to Walmart to get some birthday supplies. This are the pictures she emailed me while we were there. Poor baby is so tired from our trip.

Rocco's party was Sunday. He had a really cool inflatable pirate water slide, swimming pool for the little ones, and a swing set for everyone to play on. Hadley & I had a blast.

Hadley especially loved the slide in the baby pool. It was quite traumatic when she had to get out. She had polluted the water a bit so we had to empty & refill it. Darn those swimmy diapers. They really don't hold ANYTHING in!!

Here is a picture of Rocco's birthday cake. How awesome is this?!?! One of Robin & Heather's close friends made this for him. It tasted as good as it looks.

This will be the next purchase we make for Hadley. She stayed in this car most of thee time we were there!

We had such a great time celebrating Rocco's 2nd birthday with y'all. Hopefully we will be able to get together again soon. I'm thinking Orlando in November!

Let's Hit the Beach

Last week we took our second annual trip to Destin. Oh, the beautiful sand & surf! I have been wanting to have family pictures made on the beach since last year. Well, we still don't have a family portrait on the beach, but I did get a few cute pictures of Hadley. They turned out pretty good even though she wasn't very cooperative.

We had a lovely time getting down to the beach. We had the wagon packed with a sun shelter, towels, cameras, and every beach toy you could possibly imagine. Of course, Hadley wanted to be carried as I was trying to drag the wagon through the sand. Hadley absolutely HATED the beach. IT WAS TOO HOT!!! When we finally got to the beach & got set up with the help of a nice stranger I looked up only to see the darkest rain clouds EVER! As, I am trying to pack up our things the rain starts to pour. I decided to grab the important things: the kid & the cameras and ran to the nearest shelter to wait it out. Hadley was much happier when we got back to the beach. The rain had cooled it off considerably.

Hadley loved throwing sand. Not sure the other folks on the beach enjoyed it as much. She's got a pretty good arm.

Have you ever seen a more precious set of toes?

Hadley also loves playing with her daddy. She kept saying "One, Twooo, Fee JUMP!" How sweet is that?!?! Y'all, I love this girl! She is the MOST. PRECIOUS. THING. EVER.
